Okay so anytime while I am online my screen will flash black and then go back to normal (even when I am not online) and this happens several times a day and its been getting really annoying but the real problem is that when ever I go to play Garry's mod or any game for that matter the games screen will go black and it will say "Display driver has crash and recovered". I have tried lots of other ways to fix this but nothing seems to worked and this really effects my gaming its insanely annoying when it happens.

I have a geforce 8800GT. Any suggestions on fixing this problem will be highly appreciated, Thanks.

Solution

Yes, -Menage 3D settings-.
Also make sure you set every program in Program settings to max performance

I just built this PC with my uncle who is a computer genius by the way, and I don't think he would send me a graphics card that needed to be replaced or was broken :\

You can try, and if it doesn't work, just reset settings.

I don't think that would be a good idea, like I said That would just stress it out more, but thanks anyway.

8 series doesn't have downclock option so it's working at 3D clocks all the time.
It could be software issue with drivers (I think it's set to Adaptive) so changing to max performance could fix the issue.
