So I just bought an i7 3770k processor to upgrade from my i3 2120. They are the same socket but it didn't work at first.

Looked up the issue and updated my bios and it booted up after that but my monitor was no longer getting input from my GPU. Switched the DVI cord over to my mobo and it works fine.

GTX 560 ti GPU and Asus P8Z68-V LE mobo. Any reason my GPU would suddenly stop working after installing a new CPU? I mean it still turns on with the computer but just doesnt output anything.

I even went into the bios and tried to change the default display output. Options were Auto, PCIE, PCI, and iGPU. Was already on auto so I tried each of the other options and nothing helped.

Hi. Did you have power cable on video card plugged in? What bios did you upgrade?
This one? http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/detail.aspx?SLanguag...
first look all bios settings trough.
What was original bios? It can be issue with PCI-e 2.0 and PCI-e 3.0

Try other PCI-e port. And download latest drivers. And new copy of windows.

Yep it was that update, downloaded it directly from Asus support website. Mobo has 2 PCI-E 2.0 x16 slots and the graphics card supports that. Has worked fine for a year now and just started not working when I put in the new processor. Not quite sure which build the bios was running before I updated it. I am going to try the other slot and also another GPU I have to see if the card is just defective.

Try also remove the bios battery for 10-15min and then try it. It can work too.

You did remove or overwrite the old bios?

Changing slots seemed to work. I have absolutely no idea why.
