The title is self explanatory, but basically, I had the windows 8 dvd inside the optical drive, and it said that it needed to restart. Since it was in the middle of installing windows, and I was told that it restarted a number of times in the installation process, I thought nothing of it. After a minute, it didn't turn on. I hit the power switch multiple times, and even held it down for a few seconds, again multiple times. It didn't turn on. I checked all connections again, and even took it apart and put it back together. It still won't turn on! Please help.

Tough one this, could be a huge number of things, so I'd start by checking the 2 pin connectors for your power button is firmly connected to your Mobo...check all the powercables from your PSU are all connected, CPU, 24 pin, sata etc etc.

Try another powercord...maybe the fuse blew...might be something as silly as that.

After that I'd be looking at replacing the PSU...or trying it in a good mates machine first to rule that in or out as your problem....

Yeah, there are so many possible causes, could be the psu, or the mobo might have died, or the hdd could have failed, although you would normally still get the system to turn on after that... Could also be a ram issue, pcs generally won't power on if ram is dead or not present...

I am pretty sure that the PSU is good, and the same with the hard drive. I shorted the 24 pin connector, and the fan spun. I also tested the hard drive, and it worked, too.

Oh, and I should have probably told you guys my parts:

CPU: amd a8-6600k
motherboard: gigabyte f2a75m-d3h
ram: 8 gb g.skill. ripjaws x series operating at 2133 mHz
PSU: BRAND NEW corsair cx430
hard drive: 1 tb western digital caviar blue
ssd: 120 gb samsung 840 evo
case: bitfenix survivor

I chose these parts because I bought them on cyber monday, and everything was really cheap. for example, I got the ram on newegg for 53 bucks. the case was also like, 60.

Getting back to the main issue, though, I actually took apart the PC and put it back together what, twice now. after I took it apart the second time, I figured out that I connected the power on button to the reset header, and vice versa. I turned it on, and it worked. but then I turned it off, due to it not displaying anything on the monitor, and decided to work on it a bit more. After finishing working on it, guess what? IT DIDN'T TURN ON!!!!
