Okay guys well I am deciding between 2 AMD cards right now as I will be building my first high end gaming PC in January/February. Right well the two cards I am looking at are the 290X and the 7990. Let's start of with the 290X I've heard it's loud and hot and it's a very powerful but good card, But there is 290X custom coolers just coming out in January which are around £60/100 more than the normal 290X which can be found for around £400 So if I was to get this card should I save up longer and get a custom cooled 290X or get a 7990. Which I've heard good and bad points about this card let's start of with the bads it's a power greedy card, It's prone to coil whining and the good parts is one of the fastest GPU if not the fastest which can be found for around £340 on amazon but it's out of sale and I don't know how long they will stay at that price and when they get them back in stock. I have also considered the 780 but the 290X out performs the 780. So that's were I hope the good community of Tomshardware can help me out on what card should I buy if it helps at all here is the rest of my PC specs I want to future proof this PC and play every game on the best graphics in next gen). Also this PC is just for gaming, I will be upgrading to 8GB of RAM ASAP, I'm just trying to keep the cost down low as I only have £850 if you could can you tell me what parts to swap out, to try and save as much money as possible thank you.

Are you gaming on a full HD monitor? If not, you can even drop down a couple of cards, and save some cash, and get the same perfect results without any problems.

If its 1920x1080p then yes, you need the r9 280-290x for maximum eye candy.

7990 is not a good card. Trust me, they never managed to market it well.

A Gtx 780 might be on the tad slower side but there is added advantage of PhysX in games supporting PhysX so you should definiteely keep that in mind if you are a PhysX fan.

Anyways, i'd go for the r9 290x or 780.

Keep in mind that the r9 290x will be horrendously loud though, till custom coolers come into the card.

You won't be disappointed with that, unfortunately the prices are all jacked up at the moment and will hopefully go back down somewhat soon if you're willing to wait.
