3rd monitor help.

I asked once but I thought I'd ask again. I have a monitor(dvi-d to dvi-d on gpu) a tv (hdmi to hdmi on gpu) and a wacom cintiq (dvi to vga little converter to vga to dvi little converter)

I plugged in all 3 and my monitor and tv showed up but my cintiq was greyed out and said "unable to save display settings" when I tried to extend the settings.

My gpu is a sapphire radeon 7870 and can support 4 displays so why can't I view just 3?

More about 3rd monitor
  1. You probably have to connect one monitor via display port. That depends on the implementation and sapphire is not very specific on that.
  2. Unless it's the flex edition then the 3rd and 4th monitor has to be on display port with an active adapter.
  3. display port? So what would that set up look like? display port to...vga? or display port to dvi?
  4. Displayport to whatever you need. You can find an adapter to any port type but I'd advise against vga.
  5. Ok so if i use my cintiq set up (dvi-i to vga to vga to dvi-i) to use up my dvi-i slot and my hdmi to my tv to use up my hdmi slot then can I use this?

to connect from my dvi-d slot on my monitor to my display port on my gpu?

And if that's the case, then how is it possible for a 4 display set up then especially if the gpu says it can do it.

Wrong adapter, because it's a passive one. You need an active adapter like this (if it's a full size dp port, not a mini dp) http://www.amazon.com/Cirago-DisplayPort-Active-Adapter-DPA1021/dp/B005AT2L58/ref=sr_1_20?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1387756363&sr=1-20&keywords=DisplayPort+to+DVI+Active+Adapter
For the four monitor setup, read under 'Multiple displays on single DisplayPort connector' here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#Multiple_displays_on_single_DisplayPort_connector
