Hi,

I'm looking to do a budget build in the new year (late end of January most likely). The system only needs to be fairly basic as i'll mainly be using it for web-browsing and video. However I do love to play Counter-Strike: Source quite alot and i'm just wondering if anybody could give me any advice on whether the AMD A6-6400K would be able to run it on highest settings. I've seen alot about it running CS:GO on medium settings but I can't seem to find anything about Source (I'm leaning towards it being able to run it).

I'm conscious though that the new Kaveri APUs are set for launch on the 14th January (though i'm not sure if that's just in the U.S.), so I was also wondering if you think it might be worth opting for the newer Kaveri APU.

To be clear i'm talking about using the APU's integrated graphics, not using hybrid Crossfire. I'll be pairing it with a Gigabyte F2A88XM-DS2 FM2+ motherboard, 4GB Corsair Vengeance RAM (1600 MHz), Corsair Builder's Series CX430 moular PSU (because who wants a messy case?), and a 1TB Seagate 7200 RPM HDD. I'd be running the game at 1440x900.

Alternatively I was contemplating using an Athlon X2 370 4GHz and a Radeon HD 6670 1GB GDDR5 though obviously I'd rather not shell out for a GPU that would be most likely wasted if the A6 can run it just fine.

Thanks in advance for your advice!
