Hi guys, weird stuff going down, seems that when i turn my aircon on my modem disconnects, when i don't have it on its solid and never d/c i do live in a old house, so im really thinking dodging circuit or something. My question is, will it be something simple? or is it due for like a new circuit, i mean im sitting on my pc now and it is fine and my mate is on my other pc in the loungeroom with the TV on...im over this because im in australia and it is incredibly hot.

Solution
Hi
I can think of a couple of possible causes.
When the aircon turns on it uses a lot of power if the supply to the aircon is insufficient it will cause a voltage drop and this may be dropping the modem out.
To remedy this you may need larger supply cables to the aircon and possibly to the fuse unit.
When the aircon turns on do you notice the lights dimming or affecting any other electrical equipment.
The other thing is that the suppressor circuit may have failed in your aircon and the interference is affecting the modem,in this case you may need your aircon servicing.
Do you notice any interference on radio or broadcast TV when the aircon turns on,as this is a sign of a faulty suppressor circuit.

It seems to do it only when i put on stuff like aircon, electric bar heater - had 2 mates over today 2 pcs running + laptop and no dc put aircon on and dc straight up!

Yeah looks like a voltage drop due to load, you should really get an electrician to look at your household electrics.
Or you could fit the smallest ,cheapest, lowest powered Uninterruptable Power Supply you can find to the modem.
