i got a new corsair hx850 psu for my build and it wont power up the mobo. i currently have it running the pci-e power for my gtx 770 and the old psu running my mobo and everything else. any idea why it wont power up. i get absolutely nothing with new power supply.
System specs are
amd athlon x4 640
gigabyte gtx 770 4gb windforce
gigabyte GA-78LMT-s2p mobo
corsair hx850 running video card
LSV 450w psu running everything else

also amd fx-4300 is going to be installed when it arrives

wierd to have 2 psu i know but only way unit will boot

any ideas at all?

Nope had that plugged in. 24 pin and 4 pin plugged in and i get nothing when i press the power button. if i rig it with a paperclip on the black and green wires to run it powers my graphics card no problem.no idea why it wont power up mobo. two different brand new psus same problem.

Now when you say it doesn't power the mobo do you mean no fans or anything? Any beeps or fans spinning is the hard drive spinning up? Try removing the power from the video card and booting with integrated motherboard graphics. Try physically removing the gpu from the pcie slot and booting with integrated graphics

I would bet its that you are trying to use 2 power supplies. Your hx is more than good enough to work by itselfitself try it just by itself and I am pretty sure it will work.
BTW that's a pretty low end CPU with that GPU

when i plug in just the cpu ram and psu, either the corsair or the thermaltake, i get absolutely nothing. no fan spin when i power the psu up with the switch on the back and nothing at all when i press the power button on the tower. the only reason i am using two psu is because the 450 cant power the gpu and this is my only pc lol. had to get online to find some answers. i think it might be something to do with my mobo because i can trick the two new psus into powering my gpu by rigging the green wire to a black wire onthe 24 pin.
