lost dell xt2 ??

hello there computer whiz's i recently purchased a dell xt2 tablet/notebook aprox 2 weeks aftrer the warranty expired the oes,(vista business) disappeared and i mean gone,now i'm lost as to how to proceed,the thing fires up but gets stuck in the diagnostic for the bios it won't recognize the usb drive so i'm wondering if i get recovery diskettes if it will recognize that drive. Can someone please help me out here as to what you all think is the problem and the fix,Dell after hours and hours of transfers pretty much told me i'm on my own,they didn't know that there are places where we band together to help each other right here in the good ol' USA...

My thought is a loose comm cable or power cable to the drive. It's just a coincidence that it failed so close to the end of the warranty (though I swear that's how things are made these days). As it is off warranty do you feel confident enough to open it up and check connections? Perhaps maybe all the movement that that tablet has gone thru, coupled with the heating and cooling (expansion / contraction) of hardware has loosened something.

If connections are good then you have hardware failure.
