I have done a bit of research, however, every website I visit has a different answer. If someone can provide some insight as to why "x" processor is better than "y" processor for streaming, that'd be awesome. I currently have an i5-3570, but my streams seem laggy even at the default (pretty low it seems) setting that Xsplit has. I have an Intel Z77 Chipset Motherboard and my budget is around $350.

First off, xsplit is a cpu hog, I would suggest trying out OBS (Open broadcasting software) Just google it and you will find it, This has pretty much all the same functions as xsplit and is free too. Secondly if you have a recent NVidia GPU might I suggest trying out the newly released shadowplay streaming functionality, This is in beta though so don't expect amazing results however using shadowplay you generally only lose around 5-10% performance in your games. If you are still looking at a processor, I have a i7 3770k, using this I can stream most games at 1080p 3500kbps (Max that twitch uses) at 30 frames per second and sometimes even 60fps.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'll look into getting OBS, currently I am using a Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition but I am upgrading to a GeForce GTX 780 Ti within the week so I will have to check out shadowplay, I've read about it and I am pretty excited to see how it works. I usually don't find myself overclocking my CPUs much so after some more research I think I am going to go with the i7-3770 and pass my old CPU and GPU down to my girlfriend so she can finally put her old GeForce GTX 260 and Intel i7-920 down to rest haha.
