Hello everyone,

I have a month old R9 280X GPU and when I have it hooked up I am unable to choose anything other than 60Hz from the windows advanced display settings when running the 1920x1080p resolution. I am using a functioning dual link DVI-cable in the correct port (only one port is dual link and the other one is single link in my GPU) but still I can only choose 60Hz. I also switched back to my old HD 6950 GPU and with it I am suddenly able to get 120 / 144Hz without problems.
Has anyone else had this kind of problem or is the only conclusion that my month old GPU is faulty? I have also tried rolling back to older display drivers but the same problem remains and with the HD 6950 GPU I get 120 / 144Hz using the exact same drivers.

Any advice is appreciated at this point because exchanging the GPU will probably take for weeks and I want to be a 100% sure before doing it.
I have also contacted ASUS techical support but their response was something like: "Are you sure you are not using the VGA cable."

EDIT:
The monitor i'm trying to use is BenQ XL2411T and OS is windows 8,1. Please feel free to ask if you need any additional information.

Thank you for any help / ideas!

Yes I am using the one that is labeled DL-DVI. I have also tried the other port even though it says SL-DVI just in case they got the labels mixed up but I still have the same problem...

ok. Can you see if there is anything physically wrong with the port, all the pins are in place etc?
I haven't heard of any software glitches that might cause something like this so if the port seems to be fine then I'm out of ideas here...

I have the option to set 120Hz but if I do this it will automatically set my desktop area to a 1024x768 resolution. So I can't have 120Hz and 1920x1080p on at the same time it seems.

Thank you for your answers!

Kari: The GPU looks intact at least to my eye (all the pins are in place etc.)

huilun02: I've reinstalled the drivers every time I have switched the GPU but it hasn't made a difference. I've switched at least 3 times all ready between the old HD6950 and R9 280X.

I was searching for answers and found this post: http://www.overclock.net/t/1234526/asus-7970-dcii-where.... It seems that if that switch is set in the wrong direction it will not be able to give out 120Hz. Does anyone know if my GPU (ASUS Matrix R9 280X) has this too? I did find a switch (from the same place as shown in the forum linked above) that was set in the "wrong" direction. Could this be preventing me from using the Dual Link DVI?
