i have two corsair 10666/1333 2gb ram and i intend to upgrade to 8gb.

If i add in a 1600mhz ram, will it crash my comp?

In addition, instead of a 1600mhz ram, if i add a 10600/1333 4g ram (my old 10666 4gb with a new 10600 4gb), will it crash my comp?

More about : 4gb ram 1333mhz add 4gb ram 1600mhz crash

generally, when upgrading system ram, if you are adding on to an existing kit on your motherboard, at the very least you want the same timings and voltage. I would not recommend mixing 1333mhz and 1600mhz ram. it may WORK mind you, as it would probably run the 1600 at 1333. but its not good for system stability. you would be better suited to buy a new kit of 8gb ram (2x4gb modules).

if you wanted to use the old ram from another computer, as long as your voltage and timings are the same, you COULD do that. I just wouldn't recommend it, personally. over years of building systems, memory mixing and matching tends not to work out that great. but its literally one of those things that it will either work, or it wont.

good luck!

Hi, i had two 2x4 kingston hyperx 1600mhz ram and i upgraded my mobo with two 2x2 Elite 1333mhz. First month, everything seemed perfect, and today it started to crash every time i played civ5 or bf3 or with running some intensive applications. What is the reason? I forgot, my motherboard is p67 sabertooth.

Try raising the DRAM voltage + 0.05, and the MC (memory controller) voltage (think VCCIO or maybe DRAMVTT or CPUVTT) about + 0.07

Is this normal? When i put it to work as 1333mhz in a bios, the system crashes instantly. But when working as 1600mhz its ok. Weird...

That is a bit odd, but better that it works well at 1600 than only 1333 ;)
