Can i use pcie slot 2 and three? and skip the first slot??

i bought this expansion card for my mother board its a pci x1 slot card my mother board does have the port the only problem is that my pcie x16 slot is rite above it im running 2 r9 270 in cross fire but the way i have em set up in in slot 1 and 3 so they have room to breath they are big cards and cover up my expansion slots if i put the gpu on slot 1 it covers up my pci x1 slot i was wondering if its possible to run them in slots 2 and 3 that way i have acces to my 1x slot any ideas?? thanks

It might be possible, but generally speaking you want to use the x16 and a x8 slot for a sli/crossfire set up. I think you will notice a decrease in performance if you are running the crossfire in 2x 8 slots. Its reducing your available bandwidth considerably.

One way to find out is try to benchmark it?! It shouldn't hurt to try.

i have an evga x58 sli 1366 socket well supposedly all the slots are x16 but ive read that if both run 8x there isnt much of a diff

Benchmark it both ways. That will be the tell-tale. I honestly don't know the answer :)

the expansion slot was a capture card ive been trying to stream but my video comes out crap quality i wanted to try out a capture card but i dont wanna sacrafice performance what program can i use to benchmark??

Eh screw it i went with 2 gtx 760 shadow play solves my issues haha
