Hi,

I'm planning to build a Gaming PC in Jan. I have almost decided all the parts, I wanted to clear out a few doubts and to hear your suggestions. I will be importing all the parts except the PSU and Case from US.

Here is the build:

CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz 6-Core Processor

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 LE R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard

Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory

Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD & WD Blue 1TB HDD

Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 770 2GB Video Card

Case: Cooler Master HAF 912 Combat /w Window ATX Mid Tower Case

Power Supply: SeaSonic Eco 600W PSU

Do I really need an SSD, I'm aware that it won't make difference inside games but heard that it improves the overall experience outside games significantly/

That is just such a relative term.

What some would feel performance wouldn't be performance for others.

But trust me, besides boot up times,. you'd be scratching your head if it did anything at all. Plus here's the thing about SSDs.

In our language they use the term "Shashka" for such type of stuff.
They are good to make you happy and contented , but they are not absolutely necessary, so such things can be safely excluded.
And thing about such Shashkas is, they can easily be added later , if you feel the need for them, when you run into some cash again.

Hope that helps !

That build looks fine to me, Although for the question on Storage space, try using a SSHD (solid state hybrid drive) it gives the performance of a SSD but the space of a HD and is pretty cheap around £70-£100 for 1TB.

No you really don't need an SSD.

SSD does improve the experience of booting up your computer to 8-10 sec compared to conventional 60sec to 2 minutes.

And it will open your apps faster.

If you have the cash, it is always a good route to go, to be able to make everything faster.

But you can just as easily but a 1TB hdd instead if you want more space, and forget bout SSD unless you are big on boot times and shut down times.
