Looking to build a PC with Christmas money (yes, I'm only 15 but i feel like I've researched for long enough to know the ins and outs of a gaming pc) and I was wondering which would be a better choice.
I know that due to 4 cores, the 740 would perform better on things like BF4 and generally Frostbite 3 games, but really I am going to get a PS4 so i can play FPSs with a majority of my friends. Therefore, this (HEAVILY budget) PC is more aimed at older games and indie games, although please note that i do want to play at least most next-gen games at whatever settings that keep my fps at 30+).
So would the G3320 be the better option for the next year or so? Bear in mind that next Christmas I will probably upgrade the CPU (I reckon a HD 7750 will do for the next two years at low settings).
Originally I wanted to get the 740 for the quad core, but generally due to the G3220 essentially being a Haswell i3 w/out hyper-threading, and having it work out to be £30 cheaper, the Pentium sounds like the better option.

Solution
I would go for the G3220 if you plan on upgrading next year. Most game (including current ones) only use 2 cores.

The Radeon HD 7750 should be able to allow you to play at medium graphic settings for most current games at 1920x1080 resolution

Great. Thanks guys! Apparently Passmark is pretty inaccurate nowadays though- it seems to favor more cores/threads. Eg: Is the Fx 8150 really better than a core i5 4670k? Or am I just a noob at the high-end market? :)
Once again, cheers guys. :D
