I am looking to build a cheap gaming PC for games like ARMA 2 and 3. I am curious as to how much of a jump in performance I should see between the 1st (current) set up and the 2nd (one I am building). Currently ARMA 2, on medium settings, looks pretty bad and has a low and choppy framerate, I want to be able to run at a solid 30fps with medium-high settings, how would my 2nd set up do compared to the first ?

1st:
CPU - AMD phenom quad core 9500 2.2Ghz
GPU - GTX 650 Ti 1Gb
RAM - 3gb
MOBO - m2n68 Narra3

2nd
CPU - AMD FX-6300
GPU - GTX 650 Ti 1Gb
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB)
MOBO - BIOSTAR TA970 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
Cooler - Cooler Master Hyper TX3 - CPU Cooler with 3 Direct Contact Heatpipes

Solution
definitely go with 8gb

4gb gets gobbled up quickly with just an OS and browser running in the background. I can see 6GB working out, but 8gb will hold you over for the coming years
you're keeping the same GPU so don't expect a jump in graphics capabilities

meanwhile, you're making a moderate upgrade in your CPU, so when you're dealing with more and more units on the map etc, the system will be able to maintain it's frame rates much easier. the extra memory will also help in this scenario

that's about all I can say.

Ya, I wish i had gone with the 7790 or 650Ti boost when I had bought the gpu, unfortunately I got it about a year ago and just dont feel like dropping 180$ more when I already have the 650Ti .. for my purposes do you think I should go with the 8gb of Ram or 4Gb ?
