Hello everyone, I'm new here and also new to the world of building pcs. However I have some technical knowledge, is that just recently I decided that I will try to build a pc from scratch.

I bought all the components and the problem I'm having is "No video input" (please note that the monitor says "no video input" it doesn't say "No video output")

Given that I'm getting this error, I used only the few necessary components to turn on the PC (as many website suggest) and I'm going to provide a list of these components:

Silverstone Sugo SG05 HTPC USB 3.0 Case with 300W Power Supply - Black (SST-SG05B USB 3.0)

AMD A8-5600K Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket FM2) APU Trinity Quad Core Processor (AD560KWOHJBOX)

MSI A75IA-E53 AMD A75 Chipset (Socket FM2) DDR3 Mini ITX Motherboard

TeamGroup Vulcan RED 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-19200C11 2400MHz Dual Channel Kit (TLD38G2400HC11CDC01)

-I've only used one slot of ram, tried it on different slots but no sucecess.
-I've tried to reset the CMOS by shorting the two pins on the mobo
-I had my motherboard replaced as I thought there was a problem with the mobo (because the previous error was "NO Video Output")

Other than the message "no video input" nothing comes on the screem the monitor it's not a high tech monitor and I can't change settings on it until I get something on the screen.

any advice will be appreciated.

Thanks

yes I am using the on board video right, I mean I dont have any graphic card installed, is using the one on the mobo.
Well I've connected the two sides of the cable which are VGA, I used this same monitor on my old PC and it works straight away without changing the input.
As I said, I can't change any settings on the monitor and the monitor doesn't have HDMI input.

gotcha, ok how many power connectors are plugged into your motherboard? there shoudl be a 20 or a 20+4 pin power adapter usually on the right side of your motherboard. also on some board a 4 or 8 pin slot next to the cpu, lets check that and see if your not getting enough power to the board.

yes, there are 20+4 on one side and 4 on the side(for the CPU)

I should have mentioned, that when I turn it on, I hear the pc turning on, the fan starts spinning but that's it. If I power the dvd player, that starts spinning too (but right not I've unplugged the dvd drive)

How can I test if it's not getting enought power on the board?

yes a 24 pin is connected to the motherboard, this 24 pin is composed by a cable with 20 pins + a 4 pin cable >> 20+4 pins =24 pins cable
then I also have a 4 pins cable plugged on the other side of the motherboard as well.

Try taking the 4 pin off the 24 pin set and just go with the 20 leave the other 4 plugged in by cpu

Ok switch back to the 24 instead of 20. So your going vga on board to vga on the monitor? The monitor is vga only? Are u using a dvi to vga adapter on the motherboard maybe? Since I cant see whats going on, trying to visualize how its all setup. We'll get it figured out. Im still at work troubleshooting something critical so ill try to replay as soon as I can.

im not using dva to vga adaptor, as far as I know both sides of the cable are vga. the motherboard I have listed in the first post gives a vga output. I don't think there's an adaptor in between unless I'm missing something .

well im stumped on this, all power is supplied to the motherboard, memory is installed along with cpu and cooler. But your not getting a video feed, all jumpers are set correctly on board? weird cause you should be getting a video feed to that monitor. Let me look up your mobo on line.

im not sure which jumpers should be set correctly? you mean the power, reset jumpers? I've only plugged the power cable so that I can turn it on by pressing the button on the case.
This is the second replacement im getting so I don't really know ...ive replaced the cpu and mobo twice, if only there's a way to know which component isn't working.

From the sounds of it, its bad onboard graphics. Even if it was the cpu you should get a post. I would hold on to the cpu and either get another board maybe a diff brand.

yeah but I had that replaced already and don't want to keep replacing without knowing which part is faulty. It could be the ram, it could be the cpu ,the motherboard or the psu.

isn't there anyway to check which part could be faulty?

if I remove all the ram sticks and turn on the mobo, should I get something on the screen?(im asking this because if I should get something on the screen then ive tried turning up the mobo without ram but nothing appeared which means we can exclude the RAM being faulty)
we can also exclude the monitor and cable being faulty as I have tried them on different PC.

I've tried a different case and just plugged power the my motherboard, no luck with that either, so I can exclude that the problem is with the psu.
it's either the mobo or cpu now.

it was the CPU, after changing it, it works now, I managed to install the OS as well, but I kept having the same problem randomly.
What I mean is that i see the video but when I turn off or restart, it doesn't show anything on the video again(it says no video input) then if remove all power cables, plug them back in, sometime it works again in that manner and sometime it doesn't even work by doing so.

what could be the cause of this?
