You guys helped my do my first build this year and gave great advice, so I was hoping for some more. I'd like to build a power workstation for a business environment for around $1000. All the other builds on here for workstations are much more. I'll be hosting a about 4 virtual machines (VirtualBox) with users logging in at the same time, so I know I'll need lots of RAM. They're mostly working in Office and QuickBooks, so nothing graphics intensive. Would it help to have multiple processors or just one power horse? I'm also curious about SSD vs traditional hard drives. And any other ideas that will speed up the experience for the end users. They'll be connecting to the vm via remote desktop and the vm's will be running Windows 8.1. Thanks in advance for your help and Merry Christmas!

Ssd is faster than an hdd.
You just need one cpu.

Ive added a 3tb hdd and a 240gb ssd
Just put the os and installed files on the ssd.
Store thevdata on the hdd.
Merry christmas!

Thanks guys, I appreciate the recommendations. I noticed y'all didn't recommend a cheap video card. Is this because I don't need one for the VMs, or because of the $1000 budget? According to most of my research the VMs are processor and RAM intensive, but doesn't say anything about video requirements. Not sure if y'all have any experience with this. Thanks again.

neither VM nor ms office and quickbook require a lot of graphic power. the integrated hd4600 graphics in your processor has got enough power for your needs.
