Hi all.
I have question. The Corsair VX550 is enough to run one R9 280X without problem? It is powerful certified power supply with 550W and 41A on 12+. They write that R9 280X need minimum 750W, it is true or only marketing? My processor is AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE with 125W TDP. I do not want to overclock nothing and i have one HDD. THX the answers!

More about : 280x 550w

Yeah, the VX550 is sufficient for a 280X and Phenom II x4 965. The TDP of the 280X is 250W, and the CPU has a TDP of 125W. So they combine for no more than 375W.

It's enough, let me calculate for you:
280X = 250W
965 = 125W
= 375W
80% of 550W is 440W so it's enough, you will have extra 110W.

Why you write 80% it is important number for my PSU? Only 80% wattage can be used?

I can be used more, but it's definitely recommended to leave that 20% on the side for the PSU to breathe, if you know what I mean.
