I recently got a new computer, and it shuts off completely randomly. sometimes its 2 minutes after turning it on and sometimes it will go for hours. Sometimes it's while I'm gaming and sometimes its while I'm watching youtube or it can just be idle. I know its not the powersupply because I sent the one that I had in for an rma, and they gave me a new one but it still happens. I don't think it's overheating, but I'm not sure how to check. When it shuts down, it doesn't give any errors, even though I have the bios set to warn me if anything gets too hot, and when it turns back on all it says is that windows wasn't shut down properly.

Specs:
Amd FX 8350
Geforce 660 ti
Gigabyte 970A-UD3 motherboard
Crucial 8 gb 1600 ram and Crucial 4gb 1866, both are DDR3, and they aren't in the same channel
WD Green 1tb HDD
Thermaltake TR2 600 watts powersupply

If you want to check for overheating I would recommend OpenHardwareMonitor. It will show you your CPU temperature, GPU temperature, % usage, and much more. That's a tough one, because it really sounds like a PSU. I'd go ahead and try to check for overheating, but I'd also consider trying to find a known good PSU. Crazier things have happened than getting 2 bad PSU's.

It could be due to the RAM mismatch or you could have a bad stick of RAM. Sometimes different speed RAMs don't play well together (although they should all be running at the lowest set specs). Check in BIOS for the two RAMs setups and compare them to manufacturers recommended settings.

I just got the 4gb stick of ram, the problem was happening with just the 8 before

it is possible that one of your RAM modules/sticks is defective, run a stress test such as MemTest, Prime95 or others to verify that it's not a RAM issue. If you are using your WD Green hdd as your boot drive, it's also possible that it is the culprit. The Green series is not recommended fo primary drive usage, they are for data storage. To check the hdd, go to WD's website and download their hard drive diagnostic and run it to see if it might be the drive.

ok, I did that and nothing came up. Could it be a problem with the motherboard or graphics card drivers, because I've run it in safemode for much longer withought it shutting off than in normal windows mode and it has never shut off in safe mode
