I have 1gb RAM and when i wanted to repace one of the 2x512 gb iwth 1gb the windows says that I have 1gb but I should have 1.5

I have 1gb RAM and when i wanted to replace one of the 2x512 gb with 1gb the windows says that I have 1gb but I should have 1.5gb. I am using DDR400!
