I've been reading about the asus z87 motherboards and how the chasis fan headers aren't really pwm headers even though they're 4 pin headers. From what I've gathered is that one option I have is to use this ,http:// , splitter and daisy chain all my pwm chasis fans with it then connect it to the CPU OPT fan connector so the pwm fans are mirrored and ran the way my cpu fan is; whose header is the only true pwm header on the board.

Is this correct?

Solution
Well that isn't correct, the regulation will be the same regardless.

But to answer your question, yes this device will do exactly what you want it to.

It isn't really an ASUS thing per say but that is correct. But what is it you're trying to do? The sys_fan headers are fully capable of controlling 3 or 4 pin fans, they just use voltage control instead of PWM.
That device works fine, I use three of the swiftech version, just be aware that it sends a full 12 volts to your fans. So if they aren't PWM fans they will run at full speed.

From what I understand is that the cpu fan is the only true pwm header on the board. Now on my board there is a 4 pin header called "CPU OPT FAN" which mirrors what the cpu fan header does.

What I want to do is daisy chain a bunch of pwm chasis fans to the CPU OPT FAN header so that they are regulated with PWM instead of voltage and can be quieter

Is that clear enough?

The reason I don't want to use voltage regulated chasis fans is that when my computer isn't under a load; the fans will still run higher and louder than compared to PWM regulated fans when under the same stress

Well no i am wording this poorly. The device you are looking at *only* works with PWM fans. If you plug non PWM fans into it, it will run them but only at full speed. So if you use non PWM fans you should use the regular sys_fan headers. If you want to use PWM fans and control them via PWM, do exactly what you said and connect them to this device, connected to the CPU_OPT header.
