I currently have ATI/AMD 5770, and I'm wanting to upgrade as I'm finally playing games that tax my video card.

I'm looking to go to nVidia now, can anyone give any suggestions? price range: around 150 give or take a few.

EDIT: Won't be buying immediately, it'll be around Late Feb/Early March before I buy

EDIT 2: My specs
AMD Phenom II X4 955
OCZ 700 Watt PSU (don't remember specific model)
ASRock 870 EXTREME3 AM3 AMD 870 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard

I have a dual monitor setup. one is 1080p, other is 1440x900 resolution. I don't use the 2nd monitor often, it's usually turned off.

3-4 years, I'd say just grab a 660 now, since it's in budget, and add another 660 down the road when you can afford another. You can even buy a 2 used ones if you wanted off ebay or something and it would save you some money. Just be careful if you buy it used. I wouldn't recommend buying one from someone who's overclocked it. Not everyone knows what they're doing. haha

But, if you can afford it, a 770 would last you much much longer than a 660 and it's cheaper than buying 2 660s, but it's more money upfront. So, it really all depends on how you want to play it out.

I may go with the GTX 660, it all depends on my budget. I don't know what my tax return will be, so just looking.

Will it last for 3-4 years with games on max settings? The 5770 lasted 3 years, almost 4.

I posted my specs above as well.

I don't play just released games for the most part, this was the first time I've bought a game in several years I bought a just released game (AC4) and it's on max settings, taxes out my GPU, but when I lowered the screen resolution (to 720p), it's no longer being taxed as much.

But seems like the 660 will probably be the best one to get. It's not that much higher than my proposed budget, but should be doable.

Yeah, a 660 is pretty powerful, but also, compared to your 5770, the 660 is 2GB vs 1GB, 192 bit vs 128 bit, and of course the clock speed differences and the amount of cores. So, for 1080p gaming on newer games like that, your 1GB 128 bit definitely would be taxed, before your clock speed and shader cores even come into play. By lowering to 720 you are using less bandwidth on your gpu and less memory. So really, if you don't plan on play anything other than games like AC4, you should be fine with a 660, just probably not on max settings unless you have 2 660s, at least not at a full 60 FPS. There are lots of charts that you can google for that will tell you around what FPS your system will run at for particular games. A Single 660 will most likely run most games on High-ish settings for about another year maybe 2, but I wouldn't get hopes too high for more than 1 more year.

What would you recommend to meet my 3-4 years? The 770? or some other?
Also, it doesn't have to me nVidia either, can stay with AMD as well. There's only 1 game I'm looking to play & it doesn't run on AMD cards but it's no loss if I can't play it.
