I'm not sure where you have been reading this but I wouldn't believe it.
I have a 250GB Samsung 840 EVO in my AMD desktop PC and it runs perfectly. I also have a 500 GB Samsung 840 PRO in my laptop which is also AMD and I've never had a problem with it.
In my experience, Samsung 840s and AMD get along just fine.
I was recently advised by a computer technician not to pair any SSD with an AMD chip/motherboard. Not due to incompatibility, but rather to a waste of the SSD's speed. He said the speed of the SSD was faster than the AMD chips/motherboards (presently), and that the user wouldn't realize the SSD's full potential. But - I've read that replacing a mechanical drive with an SSD drive will increase speed and performance of any computer - regardless of age or chipset.
