HI guys, new to the forums and i have a bit of a issue with my computer. I bult a gaming rig 2 years ago with a i5-2500k, 8gbs of vengance ram, gtx 560ti and a 700w psu and a z68 extreme3 gen3 mobo./ so about 6 months ago i turned my computer one day and it literally took 30 mins to go from start-up to usuable./ i never bothered to worry about it then because i didnt use it much due to work. Now i became curious because i wanted to start playing pc games again. i did some investigating, tried a new hard and it didnt work same problem.so talked with my buddy who has the same exact computer as me outside of the gpu and case. he told me he had to replace his bios chip because it was giving him similar problems so i went and replaced it. after restarting it twice it started to wrok flawless. then all of a sudden it went back to being slow and it did this back and forth game multiple times. i brought my pc over to my buddies house and took out my psu and put his in to test that and bam my computer worked great so i figured it was the power supply. he had a spare 550w laying around so i slapped that in my pc to try it out till i could order a new one and i got home and it started the same issues again. i dont know whee to go with it now and any input would be greatly appreciated. thanks guys

first off make sure the motherboard running the newest bios code. in the bios turn on xmp profile for the ram make sure the sata port set to achi mode. check that the sata drives are on the intel sata port and the 3 party sata ports are turned off in the bios. in the bios check that pci bus irq set to auto. if you installed a sound card make sure onboard sound is turned off. if you installed a wifi or sound card check that there not in a slot that sharing an irq with the video card. if there is a wifi or sound card try pulling the card see if anything changes. if it speed up...try turning off the printer/com ports to give the card an irq. on the mb make sure the video card in the video slot closest to the cpu. in the bios turn off muilt...

.i have not. Now its doing this cute thing where I'll start it up and it won't display anything like the post screen or anything. I tried both my onboard graphics and my GPU card.

At your own risk, do the paper-clip test on your PSU. If it reads fine with a multimeter (BE CAREFUL), then it's probably not your PSU. You should certainly verify the PSU is in good order, because a MB is much harder to replace :p
