my pc specs
(This is the old cpu) AMD Phenom II X4 970
G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 speed
windows 7 64bit
680 power supply
r9 270x graphic card
M5A97 2.0 motherbored

im trying to install a FX amd 6300 6 core. everytime i install it my monitor wont respond. the red mem ok button doesnt flash once my monitor goes to sleep. i have no idea whats going on?

Solution
mem ok flashing apparently means its testing, make sure ur cables are fully connected to ur graphics card and see if thats causing ur graphical issues. \

U can try to reset cmos or bios to default or optimized settings.

Ur gettinging artifacts with the x4 in? and everything worked before?
It works with the X4 970 but not the 6300? check the bios version the x4 requires 0208 and the fx 1006 or higher and they currently have 2103 bios released, it may be the problem, but if ur on lower than 1006 then u must have got one of the first m5a97 r2 boards lol

as of now i have no idea what is wrong with cpu but i think graphic card may be messed up cause i may have not uninstalled eveerything from nivida.
early today my computer setup was a
M5A97 mobo with bios version 0705
Phenom II X4 970
680 PSU cooler master
Nivida 560Ti graphic card
and G.SKILL Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1866 speed
with windows 7 64 bit

i had a constant problem that whenever my computer lost power IE: unplugged power cable or no electricity my computer wouldn't recognize my monitor because of memory apparently that set of g skill ram isn't compatible with amd products. so i would fix it by running memok and then turing off my computer then back on and it would work dont know why it did but it didnt bother me much since i dont move around alot. well just today i got a new graphic card the R9 270x and the cpu Fx 6300 well i installed both of them and computer didnt start at all so i did the best i could and i swaped out the new cpu with the old one left the new graphic card in and it worked just needed to install amd software. well i manually uninstalled the nivida software after i did that i looked up problems with new cpu someone on another thread said possibly bios so i updated my bios to 1605 well my new cpu didnt work still but it fixed the problem when i had to turn it off and on for it to work. as of right now im formating and puttin new windows with all new drivers ll post later today and see if the graphic issue fixed. but would still love help on cpu is there a way to know if its bad or nope?
