I was searching for some overclocking information and I came across the term heatsink for motherboards. Now,
1.How do you measure the quality of a heatsink in a motherboard?
2.Why are some heatsinked boards good for OC while others aren't?
3.I also came across aftermarket motherboard heatsinks.Do they work and what improvement in temprature will I be able to see if I use them?
4.Where can I find 3rd party board heatsinks in India?
5.Is having a good cpu cooler enough to overclock if your case has a good number of fans?

1. It's hard to tell. You can try to look at motherboard reviews to see if they measure mobo temps, but I don't think reviewers look at that really.

2. Because it's not just about the cooling, but how safely and efficiently the motherboard can deliver voltage.

3. They work, and it's hard to tell. Some motherboards would see a decrease in temperature, while others might see an increase in temperature.

4. Not a clue, sorry.

5. Depends on the cooler. If it's water cooling, it doesn't matter as much. For air coolers, they rely more so than water coolers on how cool the inside of your case is. But, no matter what, lower case temps will always lead to lower CPU temps.

One I will add is that heatsinks on the board are USUALLY a good indication that the board has good power regulation circuitry. They don't usually bother if it doesn't. Quality still varies among those boards, but board heatsinks are a good sign.
