New Build with issues

Hi guys

I just completed a new build. It's not my first but I'm not an expert either, and I have two issues I don't seem to fix.

Specs are:
ASUS M5A99FX motherboard
AMD FX 6300 CPU
XFX Pro650W PSU
Sapphire HD7850 graphics card
Samsung 840EVO SSD
Western Digital 1TB hard drive
Samsung Optical drive
Gskill Ripjaws 2X4GB RAM

1. I've completed the build, on powering up I get two beeps and the DRAM LED on the motherboard lights up which I believe indicates a issue with the RAM. The manual instructs me eo press the MemOK button until the LED starts blinking indicating that the memory compatibility is being tuned for a successful boot. This gets me to the first screen which confirms a successful boot and instructs me to enter the BIOS memory and save the settings. And here's the trouble when I enter the setup I'm not quite sure how to save the settings. And when I shut down and start up again I have to go through the same procedure.

2. Once I've done the above procedure the Boot Device LED lights up indicating an issue with the boot device. I have the boot order set at Optical drive, then SSD.

I'd appreciate any advice, to maybe walk me through the steps to try to fix this.

Many thanks

Yes the RAM is in slots 2 and 4, I believe 1 and 3 should be ok too. Yes I do save when I exit the BIOS. It asks if I want to save the configuration and reset, but the instant I hit yes the red LED light fires up indicating a problem with the memory again

Ok perfect. enter bios, top right click on "exit/advanced mode" in box that pops up next click on "advanced mode" within here you will click on "ai tweaker" and then go down to "memory frequency" where I want you to select 1600Mhz then top right click on exit and then click "save changes and restart"

Ugh! Ok reseat the ram. Make sure you hear it click in. Make sure a eyelash didnt get wedged in the slot or something too lol that has happened to people before!

I dont get it. That should boot up at least the 1333Mhz just to be safe and it isnt.

Wow, I pulled both sticks blew on them to get rid all the eye lashes and put them back in slots 1 and 3 and it worked. It went straight past the DRAM_LED. I'm so excited. There's a but .....

I now have a further LED to deal with. This is the Boot_Device_LED. Can you advise me on that?

Other things u can check that may be the culprit or help:

Pull the battery on the Motherboard out for a few minutes and then try just one stick of ram, may have a bad stick.

Make sure u have all your grounding screws are in and not so tight they cracked the motherboard

Pull the heatsink and check your cpu for any bent pins

after removing the battery for 15 minutes, initial startup didn't show the DRAM-LED but after I went into the Bios and set the memory frequency to 1600 Mhz, then saved it, the sysytem reset and the light came back

Now that you had a bit of rest, can you follow the steps to get back to this point? Where you had a boot-device LED and no DRAM_LED on....

If NOT; Maybe the battery is weak/dead: If you can get into the BIOS, check the time of day or date. Change the date to next week, hit save and exit. Return to the BIOS and see if that date is still set. If it did NOT stick, your battery is dead, replace it....
