You might be able to afford a GTX 770, otherwise a GTX 760 will come in under budget.

I was looking at the GTX 770 and the R9 280X, both are about on budget where i am. The thing is that i wont be a getting G-Sync monitor so that is irrelevant to me for the moment, the only thing thats stopping me from just getting a GTX 770 is the fact that mantle could push all the AMD card performance up.

Which version of the GTX 770 should i look at for the best performance in 1080p? i think i'll have to wait to mantle is released before i make this decision though, unfortunatly i cant find any info on mantle,( if you guys have any let me know)

thanks

Then i would go with the 280x all the way, for the simple fact that AMD now dominates the entire console market and has its PC share as well. This generally means good things coming from AMD side to the consumer side, aka mantle.

The new Space MMO star citizin i think, it will utilise mantle as well, go with mantle and the shear fact the 280x performs so much better then Nvidia on higher resolutions like 4k and 2k. When you will crossfire two 280x you will have that 3GB ram much needed vs 2GB nvidia, as shown in benchmarks the AMD cards are built for the future!.

For brands i favor the Asus DC2 above all, after that a vapor-x or a toxic edition.

However i dont want to play at 2k or 4k since that would invove buying a new monitor as well, and is mantle garenteed to give a major improvement because i havent seen any data confirming this yet :/

the GTX 770 seems to be very close to the 280X at the same price in fact the 280X toxic is £50 more that the equivalent GTX 770. is there something im missing?

I am talking ofccourse about futurewise, both crossfire and sli have improved majorly, even if you wouldnt game on higher resolutions, your improvements and price you pay to be updated in the future will be minimal.

What if you decide to get a new monitor cuzz they become cheap in 3 years? thats the whole point, in that case the amd version wins. I havent seen mantle or anything as well, plus EA is probably going to ***** up anywayz.

The idea and everything behind it is amazing, you wouldnt even have to upgrade anymore to Windows 8 because instead of Direct X you could be rolling on mantle.

Generaly the choice between the 2 is easy, both sides have their games, decide what games matter to you. I got a 7950 and im making 80 euros a month because of Litecoins. Nvidia cant do that ;) .

i wont be buying a new monitor, 1080p is good enough for me, i am only really interested in using the GPU for gaming, so i think this comes down to waiting for mantle if its as great as they say it is i'll go amd if its not i'll go nvidia, i just hope they hurry up, cause i thought they were releasing it for BF4 in mid december?
