I am building a new rig with everything new, Mobo, GPU,CPU (AMD),PSU,RAM.
My old one has win 7 ultimate on a core 2 duo with DDR2 ram.
I am a noob at this and wanted to know, if i reinstall win 7 on my new rig with old the HDD,
will my previous partitions remain intact or will they also disappear, i have a partition which has the win 7 on it and the rest are used for games, movies, study etc.

1) Unless you have a retail copy of Windows 7, it's tied to the original motherboard and will require re-activation by Microsoft (which they may refuse).
2) You can format and install on just the OS partition you previously created without disturbing any other partitions on the hard drive
3) Any programs, such as games, that you installed onto the non-OS partitions still have registry links to the OS partition. Formatting and re-installing the OS onto that partition breaks those links and your programs will need to be re-installed. Data files, such as movies, music, documents, etc... will not be affected.
