I am currently looking at parts for my first computer build. At first I wanted the EVGA GeForce GTX 770 that's about $350. But now that I have picked the other parts, I am a little bit above budget. Does anyone have any suggestions on a cheaper GPU that still delivers on the same level as the 770?

Since you're over you budget, what is exactly your Budget and what kind of Gaming experience are you looking to get (what resolution are you looking to play in?1080P,,1440p etc etc)?

^ Those are good prices for the R9 280X but you can only preorder due to the shortage currently. Good alternative to the GTX 770.

Or step down to the GTX 670.

This one is $270 after rebate and seems to come with the Nvidia game bundle.

My budget is under $1000, but it is at about 1050 currently. 1280 × 1024 is the resolution of my current monitor.

I hate to say it, it would be a waste of money to purchase such a nice card, just to play it at such low resolution. When I asked what was your budget, I meant to say what is your GPU budget (I would assume you already purchased all your other components and are just missing the video card right?) or if you want just to recommend a 1,000 and under gaming component?

i know my monitor is crap. i intend to get a better one later. i dont have all the parts. i was just wondering if there were any comparable gpus to the 770 for maybe $300 instead of $350. but i think i can get the 770 regardless.

Okay here it goes, unless you will get an amazing monitor along with this 770 (to play at anything over 1080p) then certain wait and get this card. If you won't be doing anything over 1080p the GTX 760 does an amazing job for the majority of the games at 60+ frames (see this link to compare them side by side ( http://anandtech.com/bench/product/1038?vs=1037 )

here is an overclocked version for $260 (with rebate) rest of that cash you can stuff in your pocket.

Remember, it would be a total waste of cash you purchase the best GPU out there and don't use it at the best resolutions (as it should be done).
