if i want to use ubuntu for general use, what version do i get, im stuck please help me!

Hey again!
I would get the 12.04 LTS Version so it is more stable and Reliable, you won't have to go through the problems of reinstalling it after, that's my opinion.

Either.
The Spring release (12.04.3 - 04 = April) is 'long term support'. April 2017.
The Fall release (.10 = October) has the new cutting edge features, and only 'supported' for 9 months.

Depends to some extent on your hardware. For an older computer, Lubuntu or Xubuntu, etc. I agree with others to go for LTS versions.
