Easy-to-install CPU cooler (AM3+)?

I recently upgraded to an FX-8350, and the stock cooler can't keep it cool enough to avoid occasional throttling. It's also really loud.

So, I'm looking for a good aftermarket cooler. I bought one with the CPU (an Arctic Freezer 7 Pro), but it was a nightmare to install on AMD so I ended up installing the stock one. I had a 212 on my old CPU, but I somehow managed to lose the backplate shortly after removing it.

I'm thinking about ordering another 212, but they are a moderate pain to install from what I remember, so I'd like to ask around and see if there is a good cooler that is relatively painless to install on AM3+. In particular, I hate having to do tricky things like screwing something into the base of the cooler once it's in place on the CPU (the Arctic cooler wanted me to put some tiny metal pieces in place over the mobo retention brackets, then screw them into my already-in-place cooler. Lolwutno.). I have backplate access without removing my motherboard, so backplates are no big deal as long as they are not a royal pain to attach to the cooler.

The 212 is the biggest cooler I've used in this case, so anything that size or smaller will definitely fit. I don't remember it being super tight on any side, although there wasn't a ton of clearance to my RAM modules from what I remember. My other hardware that might affect spacing: a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 mobo and a CoolerMaster HAF 922 case.

TL;DR: I want a good CPU cooler that is easy to install on AM3.

do you still have your old 212? you can use the backplate that came with your motherboard

also your case doesnt have access to the back of the cpu? from the pictures I see of your case it has a cutout.

none of the cpu coolers are really easy to install that use a big heatsink. if you want it to be easy get a decent liquid cooler

Phanteks and Noctua heatsinks use the stock AMD backplate for mounting.

Same with the Arctic Cooling A30 Freezer.

This is basicly the same as a coolermaster evo 212 install but better

6 heatpipes and vapour chamber take your old 212 fan and attach it

as i recall if you peel were the mounting clips are on the evo 212 fan you can unscrew them and put them on to the new cooler below

use the stock fan for venting the air out pulling not pushing use the evo for pushing air up since it will be the slower fan

Thanks for the advice, everyone! I think I'm either going to go with the Cooler Master TPC 812 or one of the Corsair Hydro water coolers, depending on how much money I can talk myself into spending. Looks like the 812 uses exactly the same mounting hardware as the 212, so if it performs better for not much more money, might as well make the upgrade... Unless I decide to spend more and go with water cooling. My case can fit an H110, and I bet I could pull off a pretty crazy overclock with that thing... Hmm.
