Monitor GPU question

I am going to get the r9 280x and as for a monitor I will probably get http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-monitor-vs238hp . But for now I am likely to use a pretty old dell one, I dont know what slots it has but I will check and post back.

With the monitor you are getting it supports all three cables, HDMI, VGA, and DVI. The r9 280x has a DVI output and an HDMI output. I'd recommend using HDMI as to that yields the highest quality, but if for some reason you only have DVI, then that works just as effectively.
