Hi,
I just got AC4 and I run it with Fraps. It shows just 10-15 fps and it's very frustrating. My specs:
Win 8.1 64bit
Intel Core i7 2.20GHz
GeForce GT635M 2GB
8GB RAM
Can my problem be fixed by anything else other than getting new gear? Please, help.

I simply don't understand this guys who think a GT 635M is good or the fact that you have an i7 in a laptop and you expect all things to just fly on it with that poor gpu. that gpu is not for that level of gaming.

A lot of folks simply believe that because they bought a new PC itll play everything out there. Which obviously isnt the case.

While I realize that, I was just looking for some help from people who might know more than me. Also, I don't expect AC4 to "fly", as you put it, I was just hoping there was something I could do to make it go a bit faster that 17 fps. Anyway, thanks for your... well, contempt.

I have a laptop with similar specs which runs most other games fine at low-medium settings at a laptop resolution of 1366x768, AC4 is an exception which runs at around 16-17FPS (20FPS or so at 800x600) on the lowest settings so I'd blame the game for being poorly optimized

You don't need a mid-high end PC to at least play some games at lower settings at a laptop resolution, and given that Crysis 3 runs better than AC4 on low-medium settings with the GT 635m, it's the game itself and not the hardware that I'd blame

Laptops are definitely inferior for gaming given all of their restrictions, but I'd at least expect it to run them at the lowest settings with a playable framerate of 30-40FPS if you have a middle end dedicated laptop GPU

Thanks. Even though it doesn't really help but at least I know I've done everything I could that didn't require any money.
