well, try cleaning regularly. monitor temps (at least from time to time). check for dirt and dust in the heat sinks.

also, depending on where you live (or how your place is maybe), corrosion might occur, so check on that, esp the GPU. My older sister always gets her gpu corroded for some reason.

The other guys already touched on good preventative maintenance, but please do consider that in five years comparable replacements for your current components will be much cheaper than they are today. On top of that, you will be older and a thousand dollars *should* seem like less to you than it is today (no promises on that one though ;) . Also, there will be newer and better parts that you will want instead.

But I'm not saying don't take care of your computer. Just realize that it will not be something worth losing sleep over.

open the case once a month (powered off and unplugged obviously) and use a can of compressed air spray duster stuff, it says for electronics, you can get it at walmart. Then remove the dust from your case, and CPU fans and heatsink (between the grills) also clean the grills in the GPU too those can get clogged. Add more case fans, to lower overall temps, or get an aftermarket CPU cooler. Lower temps overall = lower stress. You will get the longest lifespan out of the rig that way

oh and just an additional tip, don't skimp on the psu. and if you OC, pushing it more and more will likely lessen the lifespan. i oc to but only at a comfortable level
