Right now i have a 32" Vizio HDTV that has a max VGA resolution of 1366 x 768. Games look crisp and it feels high def, but i still want 1080p in gaming too. Im guessing i need DVI or HDMI for that, but the problem is, and idk if its my GPU (HD 7870) or my TV, but when i connect through HDMI i get a black border around the whole screen, and i cant stand it. Basically i want a new HDTV that is at least 32" no more than 40" that will be good as a regular TV and also good for my PC and PC gaming. im afraid no matter what ill get the annoying black border

It sounds to me thatn either the video card is unable to support the resolution of the TV or that you need to go into the display properties and change the resolution for the extended display.

oh i had this same problem! in catalyst there is an option for scaling options and for some stupid reason it can get set to a 10% underscan by default. set it to 0% @ 1080p and you should be good to go
