Newly built computer, CPU temperatures too high?

So I just built my new computer. When I booted it up and it sent me to the bios, I noticed that it said my CPU (FX-6300) was running at 40 degrees celcius in just the BIOS. This seems a bit high to me. Is this too high? If so, what might be causing it? The RPM of my CPU fan is sitting at 2390-2410 by the way.

Oh and one more question, is it normal for my chassis fans to sit at ~1000 rpm then jump up to 19,600 rpm? Thanks.

nope the last pin is a sensor pin not a power pin. just dont make the the mistake of moving the fan over to the other side of the connector. then you burn out the fan port on your mb.

in the bios check that the cpu running at stock speed and voltage. the cpu going to run hot for few days till the paste cures. also make sure the heat sink on tight. for the case fans if there plugged into the mb they will speed up if the case warms up.

For the voltage, it fluxuates between 1.188 and 1.284 and it says the stock voltage is 1.312. The stock clock is 3.5 ghz and it's running exactly at 3.5 ghz.

The first picture is after the 4th or so boot. It's only gone down by 1 degree.

with temps you need to wait few days for the tim to cure. also depends on the airflow in the case and your room temps. a cpu going to be pulling in room temp air and heating it up. if it sits at 40c or a little under at no load your fine. make sure under a load test that the cpu does not get to hot...over 60c. if it does the mb or cpu will shut down. on your mb looks like one of the fans or the fan sensor is bad with that 19,0000 reading. with the power off check that the fan cable on right and the fan moving fine.

I was a bit confused with plugging the fan in. The fan was only a 3 pin connector, and on the motherboard it was a 4 pin connector, so I plugged it in the 3 pins on the righthand side of the plug so that the latch matched up with the latch on the motherboard. Both of the headers that I've got plugged in are doing the 19000 reading periodically.

dont move the fan plugs unless you want burn your mb out. the 4 pin is the sensor pin for pmw fans. on three pin fans there no real feed back for the mb it missing the 4 pin that why you see that 19000 reading. at some point you may want to put in four pin fans so that the fans spin and slow down with load.

Thanks. Just to make clear, by 4th pin do you mean like [1 2 3 4] or [4 3 2 1]. The way mine is plugged in is [- x x x] where the x's are the pins in use. This is my first computer build ever, so I might be being overly cautious. If I am, I apologize for using your time.
