I would assume that you can play at higher resolutions. Why is the resolution so low? and the new AMD cards have a heat limit of 95C but I don't trust it completely so I would say in my opinion the highest temp Your GPU should ever get is no more then 85C. That temp is normal for your gpu if you're using it at full load.

@Jared Jensen, 95C is only for R9-290 series. R9-270X which is a rebranded HD 7870 has a much lower limit.i dont accurately remember it but, i wouldn't go over 80C. so 70C is quite safe.and AMD CPU's should not go over 65-70C as far as i remember.

but your GPU is a major overkill for that resolution. why dont you save some money for a 1080p?

@thesan1, thx mate for answering , im actually saving up to get a new monitor , would that cause it to get hotter if i play at 1080p?

@Gamersunionx, probably wont. don't worry about it too much. if GPU does start to get over 80C just set fan rpm to max to cool it down.

I usually say anything below 90 is good for AMD cards.
Below 95C for R9 290/R9 290X
80C for Nvidia Reference Coolers

And 70C is fine for a 270x. Your 25C away from anything I would call scary. If you want to improve it, more case fans
