So I just picked up another 7870 and tried to crossfire it with my other one. My issue is basically that if I try to alt-tab out of a game, change graphic settings or even startup some games, I will get a blue screen of death. This is my first time trying dual GPU's so I'm not all that familiar with this. All I have done with it so far is put it all together and enable Crossfire in the Catalyst Control Center. I didn't install the drivers that came on the disc with new card as I was advised they would be the same as my current one. Everything was running perfectly fine before this, so I don't think any hardware could be to blame.

I'll list my specs as well if that will help.

CPU - Intel Core i7 3770 - 3.4GHz
Motherboard - Asus P8Z77-V LX LGA1155
RAM - 8GB DDR3 Ripjawz 1600 MHZ
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 1TB 7200RPM
GPU - XFX Radeon 7870 Dual Fan Black Edition, 2 GB, DDR5.
GPU #2 - PowerColor HD7870, 2 GB, DDR5.
PSU - XFX Core Edition 650W
Monitor - BenQ XL2420TE 24" Full HD WS 1MS 144Hz LED Monitor

Also, I thought I'd just add this if it helps, which I took after one of the crashes.

Hmm, I'll look in to that. I thought it was going to possibly be a problem. And just a little more information, It seems that whenever I quit a game, tab out, or do anything that sort of closes the game screen, I get a BSoD. I managed to play Crysis 2 for a good half hour and then upon trying to quit from the main menu I crashed.

Thats why i said ... i don't even know how you open a game.... the Pc should Instantly crash when you open a game.... caz the lack of the power for the gpu and cpu

7870 power consumption
System in IDLE = 157W
System Wattage with GPU in FULL Stress = up to 300W
Difference (GPU load) = 117W
Add average IDLE wattage ~10W
Subjective obtained GPU power consumption = ~ 127 Watts

just do the math.

Been a while I know, but just came across this again and thought I should add how I solved it...

I have a 144Hz BenQ Monitor. XL2420 something or other. Anyway, turned out having two cards in crossfire with the screen running at 144Hz was the problem. I dropped the rate down to 120Hz and it was fine, no more Blue Screens. Anything set below 144Hz was fine.
