My budget is 400-425 dollars
I currently live in Canada
Im not very picky with brands (ie apple/android)
I need it for school when need be i will have to research and type up papers.
But i also want it for fun things like browsing the internet and watching youtube videos.
It has to have a good amount of battery power, 5-6 hours worth.
I like editing photos.
in my free time I like to learn languages with my electronics.

Any suggestions on if I should get a Laptop or a tablet and if so what model of either. Open to any suggestions!

Laptop.

Surfing the net using a tablet is not my idea of fun. It gets the job done, but I don't find it easier than surfing on a laptop. In fact, I find it a bit annoying. If you are using the device to write papers then laptop all the way. You will likely find typing a paper using a tablet becomes rather tiresome and annoying extremely quickly.

I use my 2012 Nexus 7 tablet mostly for reading, playing very simple games and watching videos. Did does those things just fine and is the reason why I bought the tablet. For those needs definitely laptop. If you get a tablet for writing long sheets of paper - you're gonna have a bad time. Ofcourse you can get a keyboard for the tablet, too, but that's still not going to cut it, as the small tablet screen will strain your eyes during long periods of writing.

Like a Dell Venue 8 Pro, but more powerful in 1 or 2 years from now.
