Hi I'm curious about SLI.

What are the advantages of SLI?
Is using two of the same cards a MUST when doing SLI? (Ex. I have a Palit gtx 650 oc edition, if I were to SLI it, is it recommended I also get another GTX 650 palit of edition?)
Can you use two different GPU models in SLI? (I.e. GTX 650 SLI with GTX 660)
Does SLI provide any benefit in gaming?

Solution
2 way SLI effectively doubles your GPU performance in tasks that are made to take advantage of it (example: any newer game). This happens because your PC is using both GPU cores to work together. SLI on the Nvidia side is a bit stricter than on AMD (Crossfire), you can SLI any 2 cards with the same GPU core and name. So an EVGA 660ti can SLI with a Gigabyte 660ti. However a 680 can't SLI with a 770 even though they have the same GPU core. On the AMD side it's much more open, for example a 7970 can CF with a 7950 or an r9 280x (naming doesn't matter, only the core).
