It seems that my ram is being taken up the longer i have my computer on until eventually it reaches its limit.

I have 8gb of DDR3 ram which is more than enough for what i do on my computer but if i leave my computer on for more than 24 hours the ram usage is very high (80%-90%). Even if i close a majority of my programs it still stays around there. I have checked task manager to see if any background programs are using large amounts of memory but i come up with nothing.

I believe this is some kind of memory leak because after i installed windows 8.1 this started happening.

I have also run diagnostics for my ram to see if that was the problem but my rams seems fine.

I did download and run MalwareBytes and it found some malware so i guess i will see if thats it. I also do have a antivirus program so i do not think i have any viruses

disable superfatch in windows for a few days with normal power on and off as you would and look to see if having superfatch off if it stops as you go if it stops and you dont see it useing up memory then turn it back on and watch it again... it worked on mine and stoped the high memory useage... just worth a try.

As i can see most of my start up programs are not high impact and none seem to be out of the ordinary.

not to say this is the issue you may have but that superfetch or search indexer was what i found to eat up all my memory ,, its been awile so i may not rember all that went on there ,but it all works correctly now[??] being all inabled.. dont know if there was an update or a fix from microsoft thet got it right ?? but if i started the computer and there was free memory and i did not run any program it would incerse untill there was no free memory 0.. so i disabled it as i sais above and one day wet back and reinabled it and it seemed to be good and dont run out my memoey as it did...all seems good.

I just tried disabling suuperfetch for a day or so but unfortunately it did not make a difference :(
Its seems that if i leave a program open like Google chrome the memory just keeps going up and sometimes when i close a program the memory does not fluctuate so i was thinking it maybe is not closing them correctly.

ya i seen thaty here with mine its been awile but it dont do it now sorry about superfatch not working it seemed that that was what i found on mine when you look it up you can see it will do them things.. how is your cpu useage when this is happening?? i also see that you just installed windows this may be a windows update thing and its looking for somthing that you may not have yet ..freash installs are funny and with the way microsoft sends updates out of order they may have a cart ahead of a horse and you may have to wait on them to get all the way updated [ like i seen that i was getting .net3&4 stuff ahead of .net1.5&2 stuff] ??? it was silly how it was done but now i am fully up to the day updated all is good for me..

Thank you i will try using a different browser to see if that helps and look into the Google chrome memory usage statement.

Edit: Its seems as if though it was Google chrome because my memory is acting normally now so i will have to either try reinstalling it or keep using Firefox as i am now.
