Hey guys. Here's my build thus far ... these are all parts I've already bought so PLEASE don't advise something that won't work with my case or something like that! Thank you very much in advance!

ALREADY BOUGHT
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.98 @ OutletPC)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Kingston SSDNow V300 Series 120GB 2.5" Solid State Disk ($79.76 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($146.27 @ OutletPC)
Case: NZXT Source 210 Elite (White) ATX Mid Tower Case ($62.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($76.99 @ Amazon)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NSB0 DVD/CD Writer ($15.98 @ OutletPC)

Now, what I am looking for is a gaming rig. I want gaming and I don't care about anything else. There will be some LIGHT video rendering and encoding, but for the most part, that's what I'm getting this for: gaming. Newest games, but mostly for Skyrim modded out (drooling). Also, I'm on Windows 7 64-bit.

I originally had these parts picked out:

Original Build

Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 280X 3GB Video Card ($319.99 @ B&H)
CPU: AMD FX-8350 4.0GHz 8-Core Processor ($199.99 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Asus M5A97 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard ($84.99 @ Amazon)

Question!

Now, I was wondering ... I hear people talking about Nvidia this and Intel that all the time ... people say that those products are better or better supported. I don't understand any of that. What I want is the best I can get at AROUND THAT PRICE! In other words, I don't want to spend more than $350 for a video card, $220ish for a CPU and $110ish for a motherboard. Is there another Intel/Nvidia build that will be better than the three items above? Keep in mind I want gaming ability and I want things to just ... WORK. I want supported products, etc.

This is my first gaming rig so I'm being cautious. Thank you very much.

amd cpu and gpu have no such thing as synergy

i5 K version is the king of gaming cpu, no one denies that

280X is better at price/performance
especially with ASUS direct CU II

unfortunately the price of mobo went high lately
