Cpu's stop working

So a couple weeks ago i had a problem with my motherboard not booting, turns out my cpu was broken. so i out in a old one "athlon x4 i belive(i had 3850). And now my motherboard is not booting and i am 99% sure its the CPU. i did not overclock any of them. i use the eisberg 240L watercooling so it is not overheating. How did it get broken? And how can i stop the next one from getting broken aswell?.

Asus formula V
XFX 7970
Inwin 750w
Eisberg 240L watercooling
2 SSD's and 2 HDD's

You cannot be so sure that the CPU is broken... See sometimes if due to CMOS, RAM and motherboard problems pc does not boot...
There are three things you can do -
1. When you press the power button just after that press(hold) the MEM OK! button on your ASUS motherboard until you hear a sound like beep.
2. Clear your CMOS as jay2577 said.
3. Check if your PSU is working or not? Sometimes the PSU gets broken and in return your pc does not boot... Open up the case and see everything looks fine or not... Even check the odour in your cabinet... Sometimes the PSU gets broken and some wires melt and gives burning smell...

Check the three above things... and see if it works of not...
