Need some help with my new laptop guys!
So I recently got a UK company to put together a custom laptop for me and I got it there last week. Through a long and complicated process I had to do a clean reinstall of Windows 8, I'll go into the details if it's relevant.
Anyway, the main problem is the laptop came with a 240GB SSD and I needed more storage. So I went out and bought a 750GB Scorpio black drive. I slotted it in the second hard drive bay and...........it didn't work. It won't show up anywhere. The first thing I did was go into disk management and it isn't there. I can't find it located anywhere on the computer but I know it's functioning because it spins during the boot up.
Really tearing my hair out and need advice.
Cheers.

*By the way, I checked BIOS and it's there. So it is definitely working.*

The only reasonable cause to me is that you have second storage controller and you missing drivers in Device manager for this controller.
Soon as you add those drivers you must be able to see the new drive in Disk Managment.
Also you can try swap both HDD and SSD just to make sure this drive is working fine.

Where would I find these drivers? Western Digital say that they don't have any drivers because your OS should have them all already.

Storag Controller is NOT the HDD itself - it is the controller that is on you laptop motherboard
Look on the Laptop manifacturer site
DO you have any missing drives in device manager ?

Aha! Never though to check for the drives in the device manager. She's up and running now. Cheers!
