Wired connection to a netgear repeater

I have a netgear wn3000RP repeater and a router supplied by virgin media.

My laptop connects to the repeater wirelessly, which in turn connects to the router wirelessly.

Is it possible to have a wired connection to the repeater (from my laptop) and have a wireless connection between the repeater and router (to improve connection and stop random disconnection)? If so how?

I thought I would simply be able to plug an ethernet cable into the single port on the repeater but a wired icon doesn't show when I disable the wifi on my laptop (however this does work when tried directly with the router) - how do I get the same result using the repeater? Many thanks....

While you can connect your laptop to the Ethernet port of the wn3000RP, that will not improve the function of the repeater. I would try moving the repeater closer to the router to improve the quality of the signal, although the speed is cut in at least half by a repeater, you will have a better connection if the repeater has a better connection to the router.

Download the manual from HERE and note the section on logging in with the Ethernet connection around pages 8-9.

Sorry - I should clarify. Signal is fine. My laptop's wireless adapter randomly disconnects (all other wifi devices are fine so the problem is with the wireless adapter). I have tried every solution I could find but nothing works as of yet.
I thought by plugging the laptop into the repeater via Ethernet I could bypass the wireless adapter and solve the issue. I don't want a long cable running from the attic to the lounge (I.e. Laptop directly to router)
Thanks
