Is it worth upgrading from the Radeon 7770 to the R7 260X on a this budget PC?

I'm running a PC with an AMD FX-6100 6-Core CPU, 8GB of ram and the Radeon 7770 with a 600W PSU, and was considering upgrading my GPU to the R7 260X. Firstly, will my CPU be able handle this graphics card (it already gets hot when running games like AC4 and BF4), or is it worth upgrading my cpu instead? And is the R7 260X much of a leap ahead of the 7770 in terms of gaming performance?

I trumpet AMD anyway's. I have been running an older AMD black edition processor for 4 years now and it still kicks the crap out of some of the newer processors on the market in benchmark programs.
Prior to my R7, I was running a Radeon HD 4600 series gpu that ran wonderfully for years
out of the box which is why I stuck with Radeon when looking for a new gpu.

Sadly this freeze issue only seems to affect the R7 and R9 cards.

Someone once told me "never buy hardware the first year it comes out unless you like
being a beta tester" Now I understand what he was talking about. I am very disappointed that even with
this card being on the market for 3 or 4 months now... that AMD has yet to release drivers to fix the issue.

Thanks for the reply. Would there be any purpose in running them alongside my current 7770 with crossfire?

NO!!! DO NOT BUY THE RADEON R7 OR R9 ANYTHING
THEY ARE THE BIGGEST POS EVER! They crash your system constantly with no
driver fix insight. It literally crashed as I was typing this and I had to start my submission over.

The retailer wont even let me return it

Google r7 260x crash or freeze to see the pages and pages of other people who have made the
mistake of ever buying these cards.

^ no matter what graphics cards are going to have issues, its impossible to make every card perfectly when your talking on a scale of millions of units. You would be trumpeting AMD if it just happened to be an Nvidia card in your rig that failed.

Its not worth upgrading a from a 7770 into the 260X, the 260X is really just a rebranded HD7790, which is only a small step up the performance ladder.
Also you cant Crossfire them, they use entirely different GPU's.
