I'll be brief if that's okay. I've recently build my first computer and we're having issues with the GPU. When it's installed the LED is green and the fans turn on and all that jiggery pokery. Problem being that nothing comes up on the screen. Removing the GPU solved the issue, so I'm going to assume the problem is there.

So, any ideas why this is happening and how I can fix it?

Thanks a bunch.

Hi,
What motherboard and power supply using?
Is the 8 pin PCIe power cable connected to the card?
What port using for connecting the monitor?
Is there a newer BIOS version available?
Can you test the graphics card in a friend's PC for making sure that it does work?
Have you tested different PCIe slot on the motherboard (if available)?

ASRock Z87-PRO4 Motherboard, Corsair CX-750 V3 Power Supply
I'm using the power adapter that came with the card, which is an eight male with a six female as well as a five female. I'm currently using a VGA, though I've tried it with HDMI on another screen. I cannot test the card unfortunately as I'm a little isolated at the moment.
Yes I've tried getting the card to work in a different slot but with no success.
No idea on the BIOS.

Why using the adapter and not directly connecting one of the 6+2 PCIe cables from the power supply?

Was warned against it, will try with a 6+2, will get back to you.

Who in their right mind would warn AGAINST connecting directly using the proper connector???

Nothing still, everything boots up just fine, although we still get a blank screen.

Sorry about the delay, we were getting a spot of breakfast.

And the BIOS update has done nothing towards solving the issue I'm afraid.

Is PCIe set in BIOS for the primary graphics adapter?

There's a setting in BIOS, Advanced, Primary Graphics Adapter.
Check if set to PCIE.

I feel stupid for having to admit this, but I cannot find that option at all. I'm what I think is this things BIOS UI. I'm in the UEFI setup utility.

When starting the board, if pressing Del, can you access the BIOS?

Yes, though that brings up the aforementioned utility. Of which has no mention of the primary graphics adapter.

Select Chipset configuration.
The first option is Primary Graphics adapter. see if PCIExpress.

It was already set to PCIexpress. We're dstarting to think we were given a dud GPU.

It might be. Bent pins in the CPU socket could also create such issue. Hard to say without swapping parts. Try RMA-ing the card, but I'm not 100% sure that it's a card issue.

We're going to try the part out in another computer tomorrow, hopefully. Should determine where the issue is. Unfortunately the people who I got this off charge if no fault is found.

Thank you very much for your time Alex. We managed to get down to the local PC shop today and he confirmed my suspicions. After a small amount of (necessary) patronizing (You know, did you plug in the power supply, is your power unit able to run it) we plugged it in and they had the same issue. So, it's more likely than not a hardware issue. Thanks for your time and support on this matter and we hope that you have a lovely rest of your day/evening.
