So I basically fucked up my PC..

How I did this is:

I first had a few partitions for different things.. and wanted to merge all into one. And I did. I also moved many programs and games to the new single partition. They still work, but somehow the icons are messed up, and the default ones will never show up. I can change to something different, but never default. I tried uninstalling them and then reinstalling, but it stays. Also, if I install new programs, they also won't display the default icons. ALSO, some of the programs on my SSD, which I DID NOT touch, are also not displaying icons properly..
Something in the registry is surely messed up.

Stuff:
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
a 2TB Western Digital HDD
a 256 GB Samsung 840 Pro SSD

Anyway, what I wanna do is, reinstall my Windows. And keep all the crap I got now, my programs, games, media, etc.

Where do I start? I will backup what I can, but how do I back up the programs? I have many, and it would be a real pain in the a** to install all over.
A problem might be that.. the biggest storage I have is an external HDD, of only 500 GB.

then, I have no idea how to reinstall windows, although it is probably easy to learn on YT or something.

P.S. Yes, I am willing to do all this c**p only for icons. It is really annoying.

Need anything else, ask.
Thanx.

Solution
If you reinstall windows you will have to install all programs all over again.

You could try CCleaner or Tuneup Utilities to fix the icons issue (specially those you reinstalled should have their appropriate icons) just run their registry fixer.

You could also try to fix them manually, by right clicking them->properties and then using the "change icon" option (I'm assuming that even though their icon displayed isn't the right one, the program itself works with no issue).

Finally, if you really see you need to reinstall windows, all you need is a copy of the installation disc, boot your pc with it (change boot device priority under BIOS first) and then follow the installation wizard.
